Detoxifying

Detoxifying – briefly

The reality of life in a post-industrial world is that we live in a toxic world. Get used to it. Do not be afraid. Do you live near a factory, the site of a former factory, a coal-fired power plant, a major highway, or an airline flight path? If so, could you or would you move for your health?

The idea is to try to avoid exposures and to detox yourself daily, gently, via your food, consciously choosing what to eat and what not to eat. It would be better to beware adulterated foods and food poisoning

Environmental toxins are not limited to poisonous mushrooms and snake venom. Toxins are found in the air, water, and food. The effects of food additives, mold, heavy metals, and electromagnetic radiation can accumulate.

You may think that the toxins in your air, water, and food are present in such minute quantities that they cannot damage your health. This may be true for you today, but what about over time? Can you accumulate them, or can you be sure that they do not accumulate over time? They may also interact. You may become toxic without knowing it.

Detoxifying yourself means avoiding the consumption of environmental or other toxins or at least excreting as much as or more of environmental toxins taken in. and having abundant, healthy waste excretion. Outlets for excreting waste are the kidneys, the liver and intestines, the lungs, and the skin.

If you are not having at least one bowel movement per day, then you may be slowly becoming chronically toxic. The signs and symptoms of chronic toxicity vary from person to person on account of biochemical individuality.

Dr. William Weirs, MD, describes how environmental toxins can affect you and your family.

green smoothie with foamEven the World Health Organization of the United Nations reported the risk and exposure to air pollution, particularly in the cities. According to Dr. Joe Mercola, teenage psychosis has been linked to air pollution. According to a recent report by the Health Effects Institute, ninety percent of the world’s population lives in areas where air pollution is deemed unsafe by the World Health Organization (WHO).

This idea is not new. In 1926, Dr. J.H Tilden MD published “Toxemia Explained – the True Interpretation of the Cause of Disease“. According to Dr. Tilden, toxemia (chronic toxicity) has variable effects. It can cause certain symptoms in one person and other symptoms in another person. In the cities in ancient times, they reported daily exposure to air pollution. If you fly on airplanes, you are probably exposed to “bleed air“, which is contaminated with the exhaust of the airplane engine. Again, this is not to frighten you, but to prompt you to be aware and to detoxify yourself.

Environmental toxins can undermine your immune system, leaving you more susceptible to infection.

Also, be aware that the question of what is toxic or dangerous to your health is a political football. Some things are prohibited in some countries but not in others.

Sources of environmental toxins

Many environmental toxins today are found in:

Depending on the person and their individual vulnerability, the most damaging environmental toxins can be:

  • heavy metals, such as cadmium, lead, mercury, arsenic, uranium, barium, strontium, and aluminum,
  • any of the more than eighty thousand environmental chemicals in circulation, most of which have never been tested for toxicity, including those in artificial pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, artificial fertilizers, food additives, petroleum derivatives, cosmetics, and household chemicals,
  • mold and fungus often found in old buildings, basements, and unventilated spaces, and
  • electromagnetic fields from wireless communications, such as Wifi and 5G (millimeter wave frequencies).

Again, environmental toxins can accumulate in the body over a lifetime. They can interact with each other. The signs and symptoms of the total toxic burden vary from one person to another. Similarly, susceptibility to one or another type of toxin varies from one person to another. You may be more able than others to detoxify yourself of certain toxins, even fluoride and pesticides, depending on your liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin.

Environmental toxins

You can find a list of toxins on the CDC (Center for Disease Control) website. These toxins are present in very minute quantities, but to repeat, they can bio-accumulate in your blood, tissues, organs, and bones over a lifetime. They can also interact with each other in unpredictable ways. To protect your health and the health of your loved ones, you can:

  • inform yourself of your local, possibly household, exposures, even non-stick cookware,
  • think about how to reduce the exposure,
  • talk about it, and then act.

These ideas and methods for detoxification refer to the books by Drs. Susan Richards, Sidney Baker, and Sherry Rogers. Many other books have researched and written about detoxification. Pubmed is a database of published scientific studies. It lists tens of thousands studies about heavy metal toxicity. A scientific committee of the European Union reports on environmental toxins.

Soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, mouthwashes, toothpaste, moisturizers, sunscreens and deodorants are personal care products used every day. Unfortunately, most of these products often contain toxic ingredients that can sink into your skin and gradually poison you.

Be aware that cosmetic products also contain toxic additives, such as formaldehyde, phthalates, parabens, synthetic colors, synthetic fragrances, triclosan, and toluene. Some are banned in some countries, but not in others. For example, the European Union has banned thirteen hundred additives in cosmetics, only eleven of which are banned in the USA.

Phthalates are synthetic chemicals used to soften plastics. They are known to disrupt the endocrine system in human beings, in other words the production of hormones that regulate metabolism. Parabens are common preservatives that have also been shown to disrupt estrogen production. These chemicals are found not only in cosmetics, but also in deodorants, shampoos, toothpaste, body washes, and makeup. It may be possible to reduce excess estrogen naturally. Wendy Myers, a detox expert, describes how to clear excess estrogen. Certain compounds known as aromatase inhibitors lay reduce excess estrogen in some people.

Capital-intensive agriculture leaves residues of artificial pesticides, herbicides (glyphosate), and fungicides in the harvest. Glyphosate is known both to interfere with the shikimate pathway and to chelate (remove) minerals from bacteria in the digestive system (gut microbiome).

The foods and crops highest in glyphosate are soy (the highest), corn, cotton, wheat, oranges, sorghum, almonds, grapes, sugar beets, sunflowers, rice, walnuts, canola oil, and pistachios. Lentils, beans, potatoes, oats, wheat, peas, sugar beats, corn, and millet are the most common crops that have been dried, using glyphosate as a “desiccant”.

Again, do not be afraid. Each and every one of us was born with organs for detoxification – the liver, the kidneys, the lungs, and the skin. These organs are larger or stronger, depending on the individual. You can also eat certain foods that are known to prompt you to excrete toxins or to strengthen one or another of these organs, even accounting for individual variations. If your digestion is healthy, you can usually excrete most if not all of the toxins you absorb from your air, water, and food.

Food additives

The food processing industry actively uses three to four hundred food additives. They are not always listed on the label. For example, hexane is used as a solvent to extract certain vegetable oils, such as soybean oil, corn oil, and sunflower oil. The most common additives are preservatives, artificial food colors (food dyes), artificial flavors, and emulsifiers (to mix oil and water).

Packaged and processed foods can also be contaminated with :

  • artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, saccharine, acesulfame potassium, and others,
  • monosodium glutamate, which is used to enhance the fifth taste of food after sweet, sour, salt, and bitter, often used in prepared Chinese food, also known as hydrolyzed soy protein, soy isolates, autolyzed yeast extract, and can cause weight gain, brain damage, liver inflammation, and liver cancer,
  • nitrites and nitrates, used to preserve processed meats but also known to be carcinogenic,
  • processed oils, such as canola, corn oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil, all of which have been heated and treated to extend their shelf life, but also denatured, depleted of nutrients, and capable of slightly inflaming your digestive system, and
  • refined flours, such as wheat, rice, corn, and potato, all of which can slightly inflame your digestive system.

Dr. Anne Zauder DC of the Riordan Clinic describes food additives to avoid in her eighty-seven minute video (starts at 1:18). Ramanjaneyulu warns us to be aware of the food chain, poisons in the food, and what is possible in this seventeen-minute video. Some foods and food additives are banned in some countries but not in others. Some food is adulterated. For example, some of what is labeled olive oil is not actually olive oil but a substitute.

Related to pesticides are genetically modified seeds that yield genetically modified foods. Some of the suppliers are the same. They claim that these patent-protected seeds increase yields and minimize use of pesticides. Others disagree. The wisdom of mixing genes of different species is untested. This technique was developed in a laboratory. Genetically modified food may have long-term consequences for health. The most common genetically modified foods are soy, corn, cotton, canola, zucchini squash, papaya, alfalfa, sugar beets, potatoes, apples, salmon, and others. Not all of the production of these foods is genetically modified. The regulations and permits vary by country. If you are concerned about your health, then you might want to limit your consumption of these foods, or else know your supplier and their methods.

Film-maker Jeffrey Smith describes food additives and genetically modified foods in his film Secret Ingredients. The film describes how parents restored their own and their children’s health by eliminating pesticides and genetically modified foods from their eating habits. The film has been rebutted, so you might listen to both sides and then decide for yourself.

Also, be aware that raw or treated sewage, referred to as “biosolids”, is applied to agricultural land in some countries. This sewage is not manure, but may contain heavy metals, pharmaceutical and other residues.

Regarding artificial agricultural chemicals, genetically modified foods, and pollution of the land, the situation is local. The situation is also everywhere, including one of the most beautiful places on earth, Hawaii.

Organic or not?

Processed food can contain different ingredients in different countries.

Mold

Mold is a problem in many homes, but many people are unaware of the problem. It can be difficult to detect. Everyone looks at the shower curtain, under the sink, or in the basement, but mold can grow just about anywhere. You could be one of many people unknowingly living or working in a water-damaged building. It may be dramatically affecting your health unknown to you. There are one thousand types of mold that can be found growing in the modern building. These indoor air pollutants and their toxins may be contributing to pain and suffering.

Another common source of mold exposure is food, particularly fruits and vegetables where mold can grown in transit. Plant-based foods are especially moldy, because the earth is so full of mold spores, and the wind carries these spores high up into the trees. Packaged foods are also commonly contaminated with mold as sealing them can lock in moisture, which can precipitate mold growth.

Certain molds are known as aflatoxins, which can be found in small quantities on healthy fresh fruit and vegetables. Mold is also commonly found in dried fruit, unpeeled fruits, unpeeled potatoes, corn, pickles, soy sauce, cantaloupe, grapes, cheeses, tea, coffee, orange juice, alcoholic beverages, peanuts, peanut butter, popcorn, corn chips, crackers, cereal, bread, pasta, maple syrup, honey, and brown rice. Alternaria is a fungus found on vegetables in the Brassica family of vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts.

Not all of these foods have mold on them or in them. The symptoms of mold toxicity are variable. If you think that you may be exposed to mold, then the first, cheapest, most practical remedy is to avoid the exposure. This could mean skipping foods that are otherwise healthy for you, such as mushrooms, yeast, and apple cider vinegar. Spraying dilute solutions of chlorine dioxide is a non-toxic way to control mold.

Dr. Richard Shoemaker, MD, studied mold, which he called “biotoxins”, and their ability to cause illness. You can find details of his research on SurvivingMold.com  You can watch seven days of excellent videos about mold on ToxicMoldProject.com

Dave Asprey produced an insightful one-hour film, Moldy. Being toxic with mold is not a popular diagnosis. Is moldy food dangerous? Dr. Weirs’ answer is: maybe. Amy Myers interviews Michael Rubino about mold, mold removal, and mold remediation.

Heavy metals

As Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD, points out, heavy metals can cause chronic diseases. This is not new. In the late phase of the Roman Empire it was considered a privilege to drink out of lead cups, and many of the water lines in the city of Rome were made out of lead pipes. It took several hundred years before the physicians of their time established the link between mental illness and the contamination of the drinking water with lead. Ceramic pots today can contain lead.

In the 1700s mercury was used to treat both acute and chronic infections. Again it took decades before the neurotoxic and immunosuppressive effects of mercury were well documented professionally. Nearby coal-fired electric generation can be a source of mercury in the local air.

It is not unusual to find arsenic in seafood; arsenic, lead, or mercury in rice; glyphosate in lentils and oats; and lead in turmeric. Mike Adams wrote an insightful book about contamination of food, “Food Forsensics”. He describes how you can detoxify yourself gently, using natural functions of your skin, lungs, liver, and kidneys, eating food that is truly healthy for you. In his one hour and ten minute-film “Biosludged“, Adams tells how toxic municipal sewage waste, also known as “biosolids”, is recycled as free fertilizer in many parts of the US. This waste is not the same as conventional manure from farm animals. Municipal sludge can contain heavy metals, antibiotics, other pharmaceuticals, steroids, hormones, nitrates, nitrites, flame retardants, and other contaminants flushed down the toilet or the river.

Adams also points out that certified organic foods in the US are not tested for heavy metals. On the other hand, organic vegetables and fruits have more nutrients, minerals, and vitamins than conventional. Other countries are not innocent about heavy metals in organic produce nor the practice of recycling biosludge. Common foods, such as rice, large fish, cheap spices, and conventional fruit and vegetables can also contain heavy metals.

The signs of heavy metal poisoning are variable, depending on the metal and on the person.

Geoengineering

Weather modification, climate engineering, and spraying the atmosphere are not new. They are not a theory. You can verify this in patents both new and old. For details, you can see the film by Dale Wigington, “Dimming“. or else you can read his website, GeoengineeingWatch.org

Some of these programs are even openly referred to as “stratospheric aerosol injection” or “solar radiation management“. What materials are being sprayed? What are their effects on your health and on mine? Why is this not discussed openly? Related to this, aerotoxic syndrome is known to pilots and others who work on airplanes.

If you look up in the sky on a clear day, even in a remote area, you may see long man-made persistent clouds trailing after airplanes. These are not from commercial aircraft and their condensation trails, which evaporate as rapidly as the exhaust is diffused and the moist air becomes dry again. Is geoengineering bio-engineering? The Carnicom Institute presents research and videos to try to answer this question.

The artificial clouds may contain aluminum, barium, strontium, nanoparticles, and other toxic substances that can fall to earth and contaminate you and me. Private concerned citizen scientists have detected and measured these metals. You can read more on About the Sky

Again, this is not wild-eyed speculation nor some woo-woo theory. For details, you can see “What in the World Are They Spraying?” and “Why in the World are They Spraying?“.

Aluminum is a common element in the earth’s crust, but it is usually found in an organic form bound to carbon and elements. This makes it easier to excrete. Aluminum from geoengineering or from aluminum pots and pans is free and not bound to carbon. It can become fixed in your bones and in your brain. It is neurotoxic in minute quantities. Aluminum is actually a light metal, compared with lead, mercury, and cadmium, but it can also be toxic.

Professor Chris Exley has found high concentrations of aluminum in all the brains of people who suffered from dementia (Alzheimer’s) and were autopsied after their death. In this five-minute video, he describes how to get aluminum out of your body.

Beware. Protect yourself. You can use silica, even in the form of  tea of the herb horsetail, to remove aluminum from the body. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD has developed a protocol to detoxify aluminum. For detoxification, other materials and methods may be useful to remove aluminum.

Toxins in the mouth

Dr. Hal Huggins, DDS, a dentist, described curing a patient who had been diagnosed with leukemia after removing metal fillings from the teeth. He put the metal fillings back into the teeth, and the leukemia returned. According to Drs. Thomas Levy and Ron Hunninghake, MD, eighty percent of disease symptoms are related to problems in the mouth.

Be aware that if you have any fillings in your teeth, then these fillings, which are often called “amalgam” or “silver” fillings, in fact contain about fifty percent mercury. It is bound to the other metals, such as silver, copper, and tin, to form the amalgam. Over your lifetime, this mercury can slowly leak out of these fillings and accumulate in your tissues, organs, and bones. Outside your mouth, this material is treated as hazardous waste. Is it any less toxic in your mouth?

This is a controversial subject among some dentists, who are the largest users of mercury. Awareness of the problem is growing. In the USA, even the Food and Drug Administration now recognizes the risk. Some dentists are becoming mercury-free and mercury-safe. Do not be afraid. Do your own research.

Replacing your mercury fillings is possible, but the procedure is not without risks. The process of removal can release mercury vapors. Choose a biological dentist. Ask them what is their experience replacing mercury fillings. How do they protect themselves and their patients from exposure during the removal? For example, how do they vent their clinic? How do they dispose of water and the toxic waste? What material do they use to replace the mercury? Saremco and Elsodent are possible suppliers of less toxic materials. Do they test whether you may be sensitive to one type of material or another? Some people are more able to detoxify themselves than others, using chlorella, activated charcoal, vitamin C, and other substances. One simple way to start to detoxify yourself is to stop smoking tobacco, a source of cadmium.

According to some reports, the heavy metals in your body can act as an antenna for certain electromagnetic frequencies, such as Wifi and wireless telephones. Dr. Mark Hyman MD gives his advice in his article, “How to Rid Your Body of Heavy Metals: A Three-Step Detoxification Plan“. The award-winning eighty-minute documentary film, “Evidence of Harm“, describes the evidence and the history of dental mercury. Nowadays, mercury is also found in pesticides, fabric softeners, air conditioner filters, processed foods, and bleached fish and flour.

An excellent resource for both dentist and the lay public is the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT). Paul Engel was a Swiss dentist who used mercury and then renounced it. He described his observations before and after amalgam removal. Dr. Thomas Levy MD describes his point of view about root canals and infected teeth in “Hidden Epidemic“.

Dr. Alireza Panahpour DDS, a biological dentist, is interviewed by Amy Myers about how to safely remove mercury fillings.

A contrary opinion about the toxicity of dental mercury fillings is here.

Electromagnetic frequencies (EMF)

Sometimes “EMF” refers to “electromagnetic fields”. Some people also refer to “electromagnetic radiation” (EMR). What they have in common is radio frequency microwave radiation.

Your body is electric. This was most aptly described by Dr. Robert Becker MD in his book, “The Body Electric“. Becker used slight currents of electricity to prompt his patients to heal themselves of severe injuries that were otherwise incurable, according to him. In clinics, they measure this subtle electricity with heart monitors, brain scans, and other devices.

Some electromagnetic frequencies, including brainwaves, are natural and harmless, even therapeutic, coming from the vibrations of the earth (the Schumann frequency of about eight cycles per second) and from the cosmos. Each of us is naturally grounded to the earth and wirelessly connected to the sun. For details, read “Healing is Voltage“, by Dr. Jerry Tennant, MD.

Not all frequencies are beneficial. Beware of man-made artificial frequencies, particularly pulsed, high frequencies. Specifically, beware of possible risks of pulsed electromagnetic frequencies of Wifi (2.4 gigahertz) and other wireless networks, such as 5G (and possible extensions to 28 – 60 gigahertz). Do your own research. The keywords are non-thermal “biological effects” and “millimeter wave frequencies“. The specific effect depends on the specific frequency and the specific person. This topic goes beyond ionizing and non-ionizing radiation.

Some people are more electrosensitive than others. In a similar way, some people are more vulnerable to tobacco smoke than others. Other people smoke tobacco and live to be one hundred.

In his book, summarized in this link, “The Invisible Rainbow: A History of Electricity and Life“, Arthur Firstenberg describes the history of electricity from a point of view of health and safety. He claims that radiation sickness explains all flu outbreaks. Injured by x-ray radiation as a medical student, Firstenberg is himself hypersensitive to electrical devices and certain electrical fields. He researched the risks and damage of electricity to electrically sensitive individuals, who may make up as much as a third of the population. He healed himself.

From his website, cellphonetaskforce.org, “the assumption of safety, and the conviction that electricity has nothing to do with life, are by now so entrenched in the human psyche that new research, and testimony by those who are being injured, are not enough to change the course. Two increasingly isolated worlds—that inhabited by the majority, who embrace new electrical technology without question, and that inhabited by a growing minority, who are fighting for survival in an electrically polluted environment—no longer even speak the same language.

In his book, Firstenberg documents the therapeutic and non-therapeutic effects of electricity, going back to the eighteenth century. He makes the provocative claim that electromagnetic frequencies may have caused epidemics that were attributed to infectious agents, such as the 1889-1890 pandemic soon after alternating current and electric street lights were widely installed. He cites many primary sources of information, and he writes clearly. He also refers to telegraph cables, civilian radio, civilian radar, and satellites.

Electrosensitivity was observed and reported in 1932 by Erwin Schliephake, a German doctor who referred to the condition as “microwave sickness” or “radio wave sickness”. Earlier, Rudolf Steiner had noted effects of electricity as early as 1924. The Russian government has sponsored research into the biological effects of electromagnetic frequencies for many years. Dr. Olle Johansson, a neuroscientist with the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm Sweden, has also researched the effects of electromagnetic frequencies for years.

Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD describes the risks of EMF in this thirty-seven minute video here. According to Dr. Klinghardt, “we do know that cell phone (mobile) use by teenagers and children is destroying the humanity of their brain. It is limiting the brain development. Certain aspects of humanity – like compassion and considering others – are the first parts of the brain that are getting disabled, and that is a very scary development.”

According to the telecommunications industry and many regulatory agencies, the only significant effects of radio waves are thermal. They often refer to the guidelines on limiting exposure to electromagnetic fields that have been issued by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). These guidelines have not taken into account the long-term or cumulative effect on human health.

In fact, the risk of electromagnetic frequencies (certain radio waves) goes beyond the heat of the phone on your head. Thousands of peer-reviewed studies have been published about the biological effects of electromagnetic fields. For details of the published science, see Bioinitiative and Environmental Health Trust. “Something is in the Air” is a twenty-eight minute documentary that looks into mobile phone radiation.

The newer “5G” networks could increase the exposure. Are there safety studies of this millimeter wave technology? If so, where are they? Martin Pall and other researchers have found that the high frequencies open cell walls and let more calcium inside cells. This can disturb the necessary intracellular magnesium and potassium balance.

Other studies refer to the ability of pulsed high frequency electromagnetic fields to reduce the production of melatonin and deplete zinc. This is not to frighten you nor to make a political statement, but to make you aware and to prompt you to minimize your exposure. Alternatives are available in the form of wired internet, wire telephones, and fiber optics. You are not a victim. You are not a slave. You can resist. Be informed. Protect yourself and your loved ones.

There is much controversy about the possible risks of millimeter wave frequencies. Many health professionals are not aware of the risk nor of the studies of electromagnetic sensitivity. Even wireless operators and manufacturers recognize the financial risk to them of possible public health risks in warnings to their shareholders. No insurance company will underwrite this risk. Do not believe anybody who tells you that “there are no studies“. This means that they have not read them. If you look for them, you can find many studies that were done years ago. Studies sponsored by the telecommunications industry tend to find no risks, while independent studies tend to find risks.

Do your own research, and think for yourself. One place to start is the book by Devra Davis, “Disconnect: The Truth about Cell Phone Radiation, What the Industry has Done to Hide It, and How to Protect Your Family “. Dr. Davis presents her view of the truth about mobile phone and wireless radiation. She points out that leaded fuel, asbestos, vinyl chloride, and flame retardants were all rolled out before safety testing. Concern about the biological effects of wireless devices is not new. For details, read “Cellular Telephone Russian Roulette” by Robert Kane, an engineer with Motorola. Also, be aware that certain frequencies are used by the military for crowd control.

In 2011, the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified radio frequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans. Since 1993, many government agencies have warned about and called for a ban on wireless technology.

Some people are more electrosensitive than others.

How to reduce your exposure

One simple precaution is to turn your wireless phone off at night or at least keep it outside your bedroom at night. Avoid DECT (cordless) phones in your home. Other tips to reduce your exposure to electromagnetic frequencies in the bedroom are here. Various doctors have found that grounding, such as walking barefoot, particularly outside, can offset electrosensitivity. Also, if you work in an office or at home, it is usually easy enough to use wired phones and wired internet connections (Ethernet). Various suppliers offer curtains, clothing, and other material that is intended to block certain frequencies. Are these effective? I do not know.

Nobody has more interest in your health and longevity than you do. Protecting yourself is the first answer, but if you see the potential risk of 5G (millimeter wave frequencies), then local political action is possible. For example, the local authorities in Brussels, Belgium, in response to local political pressure and concerns about chronic public health, have blocked the rollout of 5G in the Brussels region. Note that blocking 5G is not related to the controversy about who supplies 5G network equipment. Blocking 5G blocks all suppliers. The local authorities in other cities are starting to push back against 5G being imposed on them by national authorities. These cities include Rome, Italy and Geneva, Switzerland. In general, this website avoids politics, so again, do your own research, and think for yourself.

Raymond Broomhall LLB is an Australian lawyer who has legally blocked the installation of thousands of cellphone and 5G towers. He has a step-by-step process that may be useful elsewhere. He sends the carrier a package of three letters. The first letter is a warning (an objection notice from his client) withdrawing consent because of a fear of harm. The second letter is a medical opinion by a doctor assessing the published research and referring to the precautionary principle. If the carrier or the tower owner ignores the first two letters and installs the antennas anyway, he sends a third letter, a notice of liability for assault. He offers to dispute the matter in lower, local courts. Knowing that there is no insurance available for their liability, the carriers usually reverse their plan or remove the tower. Broomhall describes how to block and remove 5G sites in two videos – part 1 and part 2.  This is not legal advice.

Linda Sepp is Canadian woman who discovered that she had multiple chemical sensitivities. She described her journey back to health in her website SeriouslySensitivetoPollution.org She includes details of various exposures that made her ill, including carpets, perfumes, and wireless technologies. She researched many others and describes solutions.

If you are electrically hypersensitive, you can look for “EMF free” or “EMF quiet” zones. These are rare, but some towns and local areas have minimized exposure to artificial electromagnetic frequencies.

All About the 5G and EMF Nightmare” is a two-hour video with details of a device you can use to minimize exposure to electromagnetic radiation. Do your own research. This is not an endorsement of any supplier, but merely information about this technique to offset the exposure. Orgonite is another option.

To minimize your exposure to electromagnetic radiation, consider not using microwave ovens, DECT phones, or Bluetooth. Grounding, also known as earthing, walking barefoot or lying on the ground, even for fifteen minutes per day, connects you to the natural frequency of the earth. This may offset electropollution. For details, see The Earthing Movie.

Be aware

Most of all, do not be afraid. Open your eyes. Ask questions. Do your own research. The keywords are “millimeter wave frequencies” and “biological effects”. “Take Back Your Power” is an excellent documentary about “smart meters” by Josh del Sol that describes how to resist the encroachment of smart meters in your house.

Do you live near a wireless telephone tower, or was a tower recently installed near your home or office? OpenCelliD is an online map of mobile phone (cellphone) towers based on public data. The Ookla 5G Map tracks 5G rollouts in cities across the globe. Other online services keep records of wireless towers. Using Ethernet cables inside and fiber optics outside, fixed line internet connections can be much faster than wireless connections, for business or pleasure. You can test the speed of your connection, using speedtest.net.

Professor Olle Johansson of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden warns about the health effects of electromagnetic fields. Some materials are available in the form of curtains that can block 5G frequencies. Devra David PhD, MPH questions the safety of mobile phone and wireless radiation. Dr. Joe Mercola describes exposure to electromagnetic frequencies and his tips to reduce it. He refers to cellphones (mobile phones) as the “cigarettes of the twenty-first century” in this podcast

The EMF portal is a database of related research. This database is referred to by the WHO and compiled by the University of Aachen, Germany. Besides electromagnetic frequencies, be aware of other Wifi risks. Be aware that susceptibility and vulnerability to millimeter wave frequencies is individual. In other words, some people are more electrosensitive than others. If you are generally healthy, then you may be able to insulate yourself internally from the effects of exposure to these frequencies on you. Again, do not expect anybody else to be as concerned about your health as you are.

EMFscientist.org is another resource. They describe the scientific basis for their concerns, and they criticize inadequate non-ionizing EMF international guidelines.

In general, HealthViaFood avoids politics, but safety and exposure to toxicity are concerns. The Belgian parliament received a proposal in 2011 to recognize electrohypersensitivity.

Do not be fooled by the “experts”.

One point of view is that millimeter wave frequencies found in emissions by Wifi and 5G equipment can only be harmful, if they burn the skin. This view is that only ionizing radiation, such as x-rays, can be harmful. According to this point of view, the only biological effects of electromagnetic fields are thermal. Be skeptical. Certain frequencies have effects beyond the thermal, but again some people are more electrosensitive than others. The possible dangers of wireless frequencies are described on the website We Are the Evidence.  Another relevant website is powerwatch.org.uk A revealing film is “5G Apocalypse – The Extinction Event“. Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD, an expert on heavy metals, electromagnetic frequencies, and detox describes heavy metal detox in this two-hour video. According to Dr. Klinghardt, heavy metals in the body act as micro-antenna for millimeter wave frequencies. If you remove heavy metals from your body, you can reduce your sensitivity to millimeter wave frequencies, again according to Dr. Klinghardt.

Again, not all electromagnetic frequencies are harmful nor represent a chronic risk. There is a spectrum, only part of which is detected by the human eye. For example, in moderation the rays of the sun prompt you to produce your own vitamin D, using the cholesterol in your skin. In his book, “The Body Electric“, Dr. Robert Becker MD describes healing people of severe wounds, using slight currents of electricity. Dr. Royal Rife, PhD and Dr. Hulda Clark ND also describe specific uses of certain frequencies for therapeutic results. Their results and conclusions are similar to research by Nikola Tesla and Wilhelm Reich.

Of course, these salutary uses of electromagnetic frequencies have not been tested in clinical trials. Who would sponsor such a trial? The fact that they have not been tested in clinical trials does not mean that they are “debunked” without proof to the contrary. Multiple observers have reported on their results. Were their reports reliable and in search of the truth, at least from their point of view? To answer this question, do your own research, and think for yourself. An excellent source of research is electricsense.com by Lloyd Burrell.

Pharmaceutical products, such as birth control pills, anti-depressants, and statins can deplete you of minerals and vitamins, such as magnesium, zinc, selenium, B vitamins, vitamin C, and other water-soluble nutrients.

What are you going to do about it?

Do not be afraid. Are you toxic, or how toxic are you? To begin to answer this, you can have your hair analyzed by one or more laboratories. For details, read the excellent website by Dr. Larry Wilson, MD, on hair mineral analysis. A sample report by Analytical ResearchLabs, Inc. is here. Other labs can do these tests too, such as  Trace Elements. A lab that can analyze hair, urine, and stool is Trace Minerals International. You might shop around and compare these and other labs, their experience, their methods, and their personnel.

Some tests may require a doctor’s written order in some countries. Some tests may require a doctor to interpret the results. Many doctors do not accept these tests as indicative or useful for anything. You may have been born with slight toxicities or nutrient deficiencies. If you want a test, but your doctor will not write you an order for the test, then get a second opinion. This is not an endorsement of these labs. Buyer beware.

Detoxing” can be more than just a nutritional protocol. Change your eating habits, detox, and you can change your life. Turmeric, tamarind, and food-grade iodine may prompt you to excrete fluoride.

Certain plants can remove toxins from polluted indoor air. Some can remove formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, and other toxins from indoor air. Some are easier than others to maintain. The air space agency NASA even studied plants for reducing indoor air pollution.

Snake plant (dracaena) is an excellent plant for purifying the air from formaldehyde, which is commonly off-gassed from consumer products such as plywood, carpets, and others. Like other plants, snake plant releases oxygen at night, which may have health benefits. It is toxic to cats and dogs. Spider plant (chlorophytum) is one of the most efficient plants for the oxygenation of a room as well as for the absorption of toxic fumes. Locate in bright room but without direct sunlight. Absorbs carbon monoxide, xylene and formaldehyde (paints, agglomerates, tobacco smoke, and household products).

Peace lily and its large leaves filter benzene, trichloroethylene, and other harmful pollutants. Bamboo palm or dwarf palm (chamaedorea) naturally rids the air of toxins and repel spider mites that attack plants. They also provide much-needed moisture in the air during the winter months when the air is dry.

Chelation is a method used by doctors to remove toxic heavy metals stored in the body, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic. Vitamin C is the cheapest, most practical chelator. Beware that rapid or synthetic medical chelation can also deplete you of necessary healthy minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, and calcium. Other than choosing what you eat and what you do not eat, chelation is beyond the scope of this website. If you have reason to believe that you are heavily polluted with heavy metals, then do your own research, and possibly have yourself tested, starting with your hair. Find a licensed health practitioner who has experience with detox protocols. Some doctors use dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), also called “succimerfor”, to chelate lead and mercury. It has been extensively tested, but it is radioactive.

Beware of a possible “Herxheimer effect” of detoxification that is too rapid. This effect is also known as a “healing crisis”. This can happen, if you have accumulated toxins over a lifetime and then rapidly mobilize them into your blood without first unblocking a constipated colon. Unless you rapidly excrete the mobilized toxins, for example binding them to fiber and then excreting them, you simply deposit these toxins elsewhere in your tissues, organs, and bones. This can make you feel very ill and cause nausea, fatigue, diarrhea, or pain. Beware. The answer is to detoxify yourself gently and slowly and to start with having regular, frequent bowel movements.

Again, you may have acquired certain toxins over your lifetime. If you detoxify yourself recklessly or too quickly, using high doses of agents such as DMSA or even vitamin C, you can damage your immune system and push yourself into more serious illness. The answer is to eat certain foods and to avoid others. “Let your food be your medicine,” as Hippocrates said.

If you have reason to believe that you have accumulated toxins over many years or are seriously toxic, then consult a doctor knowledgeable about these and other detoxification methods. Exercise, sweating, enemas, and plenty of sleep are also gentle ways to detoxify yourself. You might also consider changing your habits to cut processed foods that contain refined sugar, processed cow’s dairy, wheat, and food additives.

Biologically, detoxification takes place in two phases. Phase one dissolves the toxins lodged in your blood, tissues, organs, and bones. Phase two binds and excretes the toxins. The capacity of each of these phases is individual. In general, if you are healthy, you have a greater capacity for detoxification. Because of biochemical individuality, you may be able to respond to certain foods more than others. Results vary.

If you are constipated or have diarrhea, then it is better to become regular and to detoxify your colon first, for example with psyllium seeds or flax seeds in your smoothies, before you start to detoxify your liver and the rest of your body.

What to eat for detoxification

In general, the following foods, ideally organic or home-grown, are useful for detoxification, with reference to research studies compiled by GreenMedInfoDr. Edward Group DC, and Dr. Sherry Rogers MD:

  1. lemons and other citrus (contains vitamin C, flavonoids, and pectin), second opinion
  2. ginger (can gently stimulate digestion, relieves nausea and sea sickness), related research, second opinion
  3. garlic and onions (review – contains sulfur)
  4. cilantro (also known as coriander, binds to heavy metals), related research
  5. milk thistle (gently stimulates the liver, the primary organ of detoxification), related research
  6. dandelion,
  7. apple cider vinegar (may break down glyphosate)
  8. chlorophyll (the “blood” of plants, has magnesium in its core instead of iron), related research
  9. chlorella (or kelp, green algae, contains magnesium), related research
  10. green leafy vegetables (spinach, chard, kale, parsley and so on)
  11. broccoli (or other cruciferous vegetables), related research, remedy, counterpoint,
  12. bee products (pollen, propolis, honey, and so on)
  13. plantain seed/psyllium (can relieve constipation and diarrhea, compared) or flaxseed (linseed),
  14. apples (with the pulp and the pectin that binds toxins),
  15. pineapple and papaya (with its enzyme bromelain to digest protein), and
  16. B vitamins (bee pollen and nutritional yeast),
  17. selenium (Brazil nuts),
  18. zinc (pumpkin seeds and he shou wu, a Chinese mushroom), and
  19. shilajit (resin from rocks with humic and fulvic acids).

Other foods and even certain herbs, spices, and teas can also be used for gentle detoxification, if they are themselves free of toxins, such as heavy metals, pesticides, and fungus. Note that not all of these foods suit everybody. There are various opinions about what foods and other agents, such as mimosa pudica seeds to remove parasites, can be used for detoxification or as a remedy.

Beware that many observers mean well, but they can also be influenced by their own interest to promote their own products. Because of biochemical individuality, nothing works for everybody. Another list of detoxifying foods is here. The only way to know whether something works for you is to try it and see.

Anthony William is not a doctor, but he is a persuasive advocate for the idea that celery juice solo (without lemons or any other food) can detoxify effectively. According to blood type eating, celery is beneficial for blood types A and AB and neutral for O and B.

Regarding food and digestion, true detoxification takes place in two phases after a meal. First, you mobilize the toxins from your organs and tissues into your blood. Then you excrete the mobilized toxins. What mobilizes your toxins? What excretes them? How long does this process take? Like the answer to mineral or vitamin deficiencies, the frustrating answer to these questions is that there is no answer. The answer depends on you, your history of exposure to environmental toxins, and your digestion.

Some foods may cause you discomfort, because they mobilize certain toxins too rapidly without excreting them. To excrete toxins through your kidneys, you require water. To excrete toxins through your liver, you require fiber, food that is not absorbed fully but acts like fiber. Examples of fiber include broccoli, cauliflower, many vegetables and fruits, oatmeal, adzuki beans, psyllium seeds, ground flax seeds, chia seeds, and others. Ginger can stimulate peristalsis, internal contractions of the digestive system to promote healthy, gentle excretion. Excretion via your liver may also require healthy oils or fats, such as olive oil, flax oil, or hemp seed oil.

You may have acquired toxins over many years. They can accumulate in your bones, your organs, and your tissues. You cannot expect to remove them all overnight or even in a month or two. If you use your food, you can gradually detox over many months, even years, gain health, and lose weight.

The following substances are not foods, but can be used, cautiously, for gentle detoxification, in small doses:

  1. humic acid and fulvic acid, found in healthy soil and rocks, can balance healthy gut flora,
  2. bentonite clay/montmorillonite (diatomaceous earth) in very small doses can detox heavy metals,
  3. colloidal silver has been used as an antibiotic in very small doses for many years (1915 study),
  4. zeolite can be used in very small doses to detox heavy metals,
  5. sodium chlorite (chlorine dioxide solution), used for water disinfection and detoxification in very small doses (drops, protocol),
  6. food-grade iodine is not a food, but is used in very small doses (drops) for detox, particularly of fluoride,
  7. food-grade hydrogen peroxide, not a food, but used for detoxification in very small doses (drops),
  8. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane),
  9. NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine), which the body converts to glutathione, and can be used to detox from certain antidepressants,
  10. activated charcoal,
  11. infrared saunas.
  12. castor oil packs (not if pregnant). and
  13. glycine, which promotes production of glutathione.

Do your own research, and be cautious. Beware counterfeit or expired non-food agents. Also beware that some commercial non-food and food agents can themselves be loaded with heavy metals, synthetic chemicals, or fungus.

Nota bene. Toxins are either water-soluble or oil-soluble. Most toxins accumulate in adipose tissue (body fat) over months or years. When you remove the toxins, you lose the weight. Whether you excrete them via urine, excrement, sweat, or respiration, you can detoxify yourself too quickly. Toxins that were previously stored in your adipose tissue can circulate in your blood and then become lodged elsewhere in your body without being excreted. This can cause discomfort, headaches, or worse. This is known as a “Herxheimer reaction” or “healing crisis”. The answer is to detoxify yourself gently, slowly, using your food in small portions to start with, and being aware of this possible effect of rapid detoxification.

Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt MD offers detox tips, including glycine, silica, cilantro, chlorella, zeolite, and others. He also details his detoxification protocol. Some zeolite itself may be contaminated by lead or other heavy metals. It is desirable to know your supplier, the origin, and their processing method. Zeolite and artichoke leaf extract together may be useful to excrete nicotine, the poison from tobacco.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is is an industrial chemical that is added to many products, including plastic food containers and metal cans lined with plastic. It is known to disrupt the hormones of some people, increasing estrogen and decreasing testosterone. Some people can use green tea, rosemary, broccoli, and kale to detoxify themselves of BPA, while soy and cranberry may work for others.

Many people detoxify themselves by sitting in baths with epsom salts and essential oils, or in saunas, including infared saunas. According to Dr. Sherry Rogers MD in her book, “Detoxify or Die“, sweating gets rid of pharmaceutical adjuvants, residues, and byproducts; the pesticide RoundUp (glyphosate), heavy metals, and plastics. Drink water before, during, and after using a sauna. Dr. George Yu MD combines niacin (vitamin B3), exercise, and an infrared sauna to prompt his patients to detoxify themselves. According to Dr. Stephanie Seneff, the good news is that you can detox glyphosate, using apple cider vinegar (a fermented food), small quantities (drops) of chlorine dioxide, and an infrared sauna.

Dr. Mark Sircus describes how he used chlorine dioxide to disinfect himself.

GreeningtheCleaning.org is a website with information about how to replace toxic cleaning products with non-toxic ones in a hospital, office, school or home.

Dr. Kristi Hughes, ND describes sequencing a detox in this thirty-eight minute video. Dr. Mercola interviews Dr. Hyman, who wrote a book about his ten-day detox diet, “10-Day Detox Diet: Activate Your Body’s Natural Ability to Burn Fat and Lose Weight Fast“. Dr. Mercola further describes his top tips to detox your body.

You may have accumulated toxins over many years. It is more healthy to detoxify slowly and gradually, over weeks, months, and years. To avoid a healing crisis, the transfer of toxins from tissue or body part to another, Dr. Edward Group of Global Healing Center advocates a step-by-step approach. His youtube channel is here.

His method is to detoxify in this sequence:

  1. cleansing the gut (the colon and the small intestine), possibly using lemons, limes, grapefruit, apples, pineapple, green leafy vegetables, chlorella, chlorophyll, flaxseeds, psyllium, bee products, ginger, and water, for example in a smoothie with pure stevia, to free the path of elimination, until you have regular bowel movements, without constipation and without diarrhea,

  2. cleansing the liver and the kidneys, possibly using grapefruit, olive oil, flaxseed oil, or hempseed oil on steamed broccoli or cauliflower, more of the foods that cleanse the gut, cabbage, turmeric, artichokes, asparagus, kale, Brussels sprouts, and green tea or tea of milk thistle, stinging nettle, or dandelion,

  3. removing parasites, possibly using diatomaceous earth, wormwood, clove, black walnut, garlic,  seaweed, apple cider vinegar or other fermented food, oregano oil, cayenne, food-grade iodine, colloidal silver, fulvic acid, humic acid, mimosa pudica seed, or chlorine dioxide (water disinfectant), and

  4. removing heavy metals and chemicals, possibly using garlic, cilantro, bentonite clay, or zeolite.

First, detoxify, and then re-mineralize.

The idea of detox can also be applied to mental health and personal relationships. Neuroscientist Dr. Carolyn Leaf PhD describes her view of how to detox the mind in her book, “Cleaning Up Your Mental Mess“. She advocates what she calls “neurocycling” and “brain-building” in her many videos and books. According to her, you can control your mind, learn, and develop your mind to be free of toxic thoughts and to become healthy mentally, even if you have suffered unspeakable trauma. Related to this, Dr. Bruce Lipton PhD describes how to reprogram your subconscious mind.

Some houseplants can absorb the three most common household toxins, benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene. The genera Dracaena and Chlorophytum may be the most practical for many to buy and keep.

In case of acute toxicity, such as carbon monoxide poisoning or the bends from scuba diving, some doctors use hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The person sits in a sealed chamber. They increase the air pressure to two and half atmospheres, and then they injection one hundred percent oxygen. The Belgian government has developed expertise with this therapy.

Beware of food poisoning, acute toxicity caused by rotten, contaminated, or badly processed food. ConsumerNotice publishes an online food safety guide about the most commonly contaminated foods, symptoms of food poisoning, and how to prevent it. Activated charcoal can be used (with caution) to treat someone with food poisoning.

Critics

Be aware that there are many different opinions about whether conscious physical detoxification is necessary or even possible. Critics claim that there is no “test of toxicity” that proves a toxic burden. Most toxins are lodged in your tissues, organs, and bones, and not in your blood, so most blood tests are useless to detect or to measure toxicity, though tests of hair can show toxicity.

A conventional view is that certain levels of toxicity are acceptable, since the liver and kidney filter toxins out of the body for excretion. Other toxins you excrete in your sweat through your skin and air that you exhale through your lungs.

Some people call the idea of active, conscious detoxification a scam, a trick, or quackery. Again, according to this point of view, “the body already has multiple systems in place — including the liver (and colon), kidneys, lungs, and skin — that eliminate toxins from the body within hours of consumption.” In other words, each of us tends to naturally detoxify ourselves via defecation, urination, respiration, and perspiration. These are the four elimination pathways.

This is true, but what if you are excreting less of the toxins that you are taking in (from the air, water, food, and household chemicals around you)? What if your liver, kidneys, or digestive system are clogged or impaired? How many bowel movements a day are you having, and is this healthy for you? Is it possible that toxins, such as heavy metals, pesticides, plastics, and other environmental toxins have accumulated in your bones and tissues over years? Is it possible that they interact?

I suggest that you be skeptical of the skeptics, ask questions, and think for yourself. If you are having less than one bowel movement per day, then you may be accumulating toxins. You may be becoming toxic. Similarly, if you have digestive troubles, such as constipation, excess gas, bloating, or stomach pains, you may also be slowly accumulating toxins.

Many of the critics of detoxification acknowledge that environmental toxins are the cause of much chronic illness. If detoxification is not the answer, then what are the specific environmental toxins, and how can they be avoided or removed?

In the technical parlance, “methylation” is one biochemical pathway of detoxification. Other pathways (and foods that stimulate them) include :

  • sulfation (garlic and onion),
  • acetylation (apple cider vinegar, niacin),
  • glucoronidation (citrus, broccoli, rosemary, dandelion, rooibos, and B vitamins),
  • glutathione conjugation (spinach, asparagus, milk thistle), and
  • amino acid conjugation (glycine, cysteine, glutamine, methionine, taurine, glutamic acid and aspartic acid from animal or vegetable protein).

Doctors test for elevated liver enzymes, which can indicate liver damage. On the other hand, it can make sense to detoxify yourself gently, naturally, with food, without waiting for diagnosis. Again, do your own research. “Let your food be your medicine.” You cannot expect supplements to offset unhealthy eating habits.

If you are constipated, it may be more practical to get your bowels moving first, using psyllium, ground flax seeds, and citrus, for example in green smoothies. Only after you first start to eliminate regularly in a healthy way through your bowels does it make sense to cleanse your liver, to get rid of parasites, and to excrete heavy metals and other environmental toxins. Detoxification is an art, not a precise science.

Dr. Jen Gunter MD criticizes the idea of active detoxification in her five-minute video.
